--- "DO IT YOURSELF" ENTRY ------- PURPOSE: The Pediatric Bucket Seat is a quick and simple floor seating solution for young children with balance, mobility or neurological disabilities who need a little extra support. For safety reasons, this seat should ONLY be used on the floor.

MATERIALS USED: one 3-½ gallon or 5 gallon bucket, cutting shears or a hand saw, one 11” to 13” circle pillow, foam strips and foam adhesive

PREPARATION:
1. Obtain a 3-½ gal to 5 gal plastic bucket.
2. Use shears or a small saw to cut the bucket. You will remove part of the front half of the bucket, exposing the inside surface. Determine how much leg drop the child will need by measuring the length from the back of their knee to the floor. Be sure that the remaining front edge of the bucket is not too tall. You don’t want the plastic edge to cut into the back of the child’s knees when he or she sits in the seat.
3. Buy or make a 11” to 13” circular pillow to fit down into the bucket for padding. You may need to build up the surface under the pillow so that the child’s legs don’t press on the cut edge of the plastic when they sit down and compress the pillow.
4. Cover the cut edge of the plastic with foam, covering all of the rough edges. Use foam adhesive to adhere the foam to the plastic.
